This week  Two chairs still open Thursday and Friday afternoon. Late night Thursday until 8pm. Request a chair
Sage Craft Barber & Beard
Barber trimming a client's hair at a shop chair under warm light

Four chairs · scissors, clippers and a straight razor

Cut properly,
then kept simple.

We book one cut at a time, so nobody is rushed out of the chair. Tell us how you wear it, how often you can come back, and we will shape it to grow out well rather than fall apart in a fortnight.

Walk-ins before 11am Beard work welcome Thursday late night

Cut list

What we do, how long it takes

Times are the length of the booking, not an estimate. If you are not sure which one you want, pick the closest and we will sort it out at the chair.

Every cut includes a wash, a finish with a comb or brush, and a straight line at the neck. No add-on charges for thick hair, long hair or a second mirror check.

Sage Cut

Scissor cut over the whole head, worn soft. Best if you want length on top and nothing shaved.

45 min

£28

Skin Fade

Clipper work taken down to the skin with a blended top. Holds its shape for about three weeks.

50 min

£30

Clipper Tidy

One length all over, plus neck and ears. The quick between-cuts visit.

20 min

£16

Beard Shape

Length set with clippers and scissors, cheek line and neck line cut in, finished with oil.

30 min

£19

Hot Towel Shave

Full straight razor shave with hot towels before and after. Face left bare, not shaped.

40 min

£32

Cut & Beard

Any cut above with a beard shape in the same sitting, booked as one longer slot.

70 min

£44

Under Twelves

A calm first-chair cut at a slower pace. A grown-up stays in the room throughout.

30 min

£17

Grey blending, a dry-trim finish and a shorter 15-minute neck tidy can be added to any booking — ask when you send your request and we will hold the extra time rather than squeeze it in.

Inside the shop

A quiet room, four chairs, one radio

Old floorboards, long mirrors and enough space between chairs that you are not sharing a conversation you did not join.

No screens on the wall, no booking tablet at the door. There is a bench by the window, a kettle, and a hook for your coat.

Walk-ins, honestly

Mornings before 11am usually have room. After that the chairs are booked and we would rather tell you that at the door than keep you waiting for an hour on a bench.

The chair rhythm

One client per barber per slot. If the cut needs ten more minutes it gets them, which is why we ask for a window rather than an exact minute when you request a chair.

What is on the shelf

A clay, a sea-salt spray, a light oil and a plain shampoo. Four products, all tried on heads in this room. We will tell you if your hair does not need any of them.

Your visit

How a booking actually runs

Four steps from the request to the brush-down. Nothing hidden, nothing to set up in advance.

First visit? Come as your hair normally is — unwashed and unstyled tells us far more than a fresh blow-dry does.

Step 01

Send the request

Pick the cut and a rough window. We reply with the two closest slots we can hold for you.

Step 02

Arrive and sit

Turn up a few minutes early, hang your coat, and we start on the hour rather than after a queue.

Step 03

Agree the shape

Two minutes with a comb before anything is cut: length on top, how high the sides go, how the neck finishes.

Step 04

Finish and plan

Washed, dried and brushed off, then a straight answer on when to come back for this cut to still look right.

Opening rhythm

When the chairs are turning

  • Tuesday9am – 6pm
  • Wednesday9am – 6pm
  • Thursday10am – 8pm
  • Friday9am – 7pm
  • Saturday8am – 4pm
  • Sunday & MondayClosed

The quiet times

Tuesday and Wednesday mornings are the calmest hours of the week. If you want an unhurried first cut, a longer beard shape or a shave, ask for one of those.

Thursday evening and Saturday morning are the busiest. They book out first, so send a request a week ahead rather than the night before.

The last booking of each day starts an hour before closing, and the last shave of the day starts ninety minutes before, so the towels are not rushed.

Questions

Asked at the door most weeks

If yours is not here, put it in the notes box with your request and you will get a straight answer back.

Short version: come as you are, tell us how often you can return, and say if you do not like it while you are still in the chair.

Can I book a beard shape without a haircut?
Yes. Beard Shape is a full booking in its own right, not an add-on, and it gets the same thirty-minute slot whether or not you are having your hair cut.
How long should I leave between cuts?
A skin fade looks sharp for about three weeks and acceptable for four. A scissor cut worn longer will hold six to eight weeks. We will tell you which end of that range your hair sits at before you leave.
Will you cut my child's hair?
Under Twelves is a slower thirty-minute booking with a grown-up in the room the whole time. If it is a first-ever cut, say so in your request and we will put you in a quiet morning slot where nobody is waiting behind you.
What happens if I need to cancel or move my slot?
Let us know by reply and we will move you to the next slot that suits. There is no deposit and no fee. We only ask that you tell us before the day, because a held chair that goes empty is a cut someone else wanted.
Can you blend grey rather than cover it?
Yes, and it is the more natural option. Blending softens the line between grey and darker hair without producing a flat block of colour. It adds about fifteen minutes, so mention it in your request and we will hold the extra time.
Am I going to be sold product at the end?
No. There are four products on the shelf and we only reach for one if your hair genuinely needs it. Plenty of people leave with nothing, and that is a perfectly good outcome.
What if I am running late?
Up to ten minutes is fine and we will still do the full cut. Beyond that we may have to shorten the booking to protect the person after you, or move you to the next free slot that day if there is one.
Do you cut long hair and curls?
Both, at no extra charge. Curls are cut dry so we can see where they actually sit, and long hair is worked in sections with scissors. Book the Sage Cut for either.

Request a chair

Tell us the cut and the window

One short message. We reply with the two closest slots we can hold, and nothing is confirmed until you say yes to one of them.

  • No deposit — nothing to pay until you are in the chair
  • Replies — same day on opening days
  • Busiest — Thursday evening, Saturday morning
  • Quietest — Tuesday and Wednesday mornings

We use your details to answer this request and to hold the slot. Nothing else.
